Infographic
Though we tend to think of artificial intelligence (AI) as a 20th/21st century phenomenon, it has been imagined, in one form or another, since ancient Greece. By the 19th century, visions of human-built, artificially intelligent beings began to take root in fiction—thanks largely to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Today, AI is a staple of film. But while what Mary Shelley frighteningly envisioned was out of the reach of her era's technology, our visions of AI are coming soon or already here. For this assignment you will construct a comparison infographic illustrating the parallels between film and real-life artificial intelligence. Thus, one side should illustrate significant AI representations in film, while the other should highlight AI's real-life advancements. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing six outside sources. Just as in traditional essays, you will require a central argument to guide your evidence and design.
Guidelines:
- Use the subheading to state your thesis (which, in turn, should be supported by the contents of your infographic)
- You are responsible for sourcing no less than six outside sources to support your thesis
- Heading and works cited should be listed on a separate page—do not include your name on your infographic
- Space will be limited, so be thoughtful about which aspects of fictional and real-life AI to include
- Create a design that complements your subject matter
- Infographics can be created utilizing a number of programs, including PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Canva. If you are experienced, you may also use a program, such as Photoshop or Illustrator.
