Op-Ed

Ask most Americans and you’re likely to hear that the moviegoing experience has been on the decline for a number of years. Increasingly-high ticket prices, antisocial behavior from audiences, too many pre-show commercials, and overly-expensive concessions have erased much of the magic that was once going to the movies.

Then, came Covid-19.

The post-pandemic audience experience has only exacerbated much of what people disliked about the movies before the virus. And though attendance numbers have climbed in 2023, audience dissatisfaction remains high.

How would you fix today’s moviegoing experience? In your opinion, what are the biggest factors leading to a dissatisfying time at the movie theater? And what should be done to address these issues?

In a concise, 500-word, op-ed, offer your views on how to “fix” the modern moviegoing experience. Your audience is moviegoing Americans of all ages.
